Horse Paddock Maintenance Hogsthorpe

Our Approach to Paddock Maintenance Hogsthorpe, Lincolnshire

Recently, we were contacted by The Grange in Hogsthorpe to complete essential maintenance work around their horse paddocks. The job involved repairing damaged access points and improving security to ensure the paddocks remained safe, functional, and easy to manage.

The Client’s Request

The Grange approached us after experiencing ongoing issues with their paddock gates. One entrance was no longer secure due to worn and damaged gate posts, making daily access both difficult and unsafe. Another section required a completely new gate installation to improve access and strengthen the boundary of the yard.

The site needed a long-lasting solution that would stand up to daily use while also remaining secure.

The Problem

Old and weathered posts are a common issue for farms and equestrian properties, especially in exposed areas. Over time, wooden posts can weaken, rot, or split, causing gates to sag or fail entirely. Not only does this make paddock entrances harder to use, but it can also present a real safety risk for both horses and handlers.

One post had deteriorated to the point where the gate was no longer reliable. Another access point simply didn’t have a suitable gate in place, which left the paddock open and difficult to manage. Without attention, these issues would have continued to worsen, creating more inconvenience and potential hazards.

Our Solution

To resolve the problems, our team carried out two key pieces of work:

  1. New Gate Installation – We supplied and installed a brand-new timber gate complete with sturdy gate posts. The new gate not only restored secure access but also enhanced the overall look of the paddock entrance.
  2. Post Replacement for Existing Gate – For the existing gate, we fitted a new heavy-duty post to replace the damaged one. This gave the gate the stability it needed, extending its lifespan and ensuring it could be used safely every day.

Both jobs were completed efficiently using high-quality materials designed to withstand the demands of an agricultural environment.

The Benefits for the Client

By replacing the worn posts and installing a new gate, The Grange now benefits from:

  • Improved safety for both horses and handlers.
  • Stronger, more durable paddock entrances built to last.
  • Smoother daily access, making it easier to move animals and equipment.
  • Increased security, reducing the risk of horses escaping or unwanted access.
  • A tidier, more professional appearance around the yard.
